I got it yesterday for PS4 but I didnt have access to online or story. Even after a few hours. I downloaded it again over night so this time im not installing it as it downloads. If it doesnt work when I get home this evening im gonna lose the head
I was interested in this game, not cos of the reveal, nuts to that. Any crap game can have a good CGI trailer. It was early previews that done it for me. I like the setting too.
But recent previews have fairly roasted it. The fact that they havent shown anything yet either isnt a great indicator. Maybe they just announced it too early but as of the recent previews my skepticism has increased loads. Previews rarely say bad things about a game and this got slaughtered in loads...
More exploration is a definite. I dont have the hatred of EA that most do, but they fucking ruined this series. Yeah, make the combat fun and interesting but dont make it the absolute focus. I want to explore the galaxy, not shoot its tits off

Games that focus on MP, your COD's, MOH, Battlefields, yes single player is a waste of time. Its scripted rubbish and its so brutal to play i dont know hwy they bother.
But overall not at all and its ludicrous to even discuss it. Borderlands, Bioshock, et al are brilliant games. Single player only FPS are some of the best games going.

Game writing in itself is very hard to write properly.
Gamers want branching stories. In this case, its nearly impossible to put in proper foundations to any plot/sub-plot. Especially relationships.
Another problem is the structure of games. You need to break up the story with a lot of gameplay. So theres a break from a lot of the emotional impact from one scene to the next.
But the current train of thought is that all games are too similar. That the conventions that have served till now are becoming repetitive and boring. A guy involved in film direction/art direction wouldn't need to know what gamers like to be able to create a nice scene/backdrop/whatever. Coders dont need to know whats involved in player experience to be able to code up. You are talking strictly about game design. He clearly isnt. He's one of those snobby gamer dickheads
I really dont like this attitude. Its the same for people who try to get into working in games have to be people who spend their time making games on the side. Few other industries are as anal about it as games. It keeps a lot of intelligent people out of the industry. Im beyond caring. I fell out of love with Square last gen adn this gen they've just grown incompetent. Its like seeing an old friend become a reckless drunk. Don't care one iota about Versus at this point. Theyve been burying FF since X. Desperately needs new direction.
